Aboard the Space Station: Scripture, Religious Images, Relic

Christian religious items aboard the International Space StationThey say that going to space is a spiritual experience.

This experience is not lost on Russian Orthodox cosmonauts, who have equipped the International Space Station (ISS) with a supply of religious goods: the gospels, a crucifix, icons, even a relic of the True Cross.

The "Lord's Cross," a gift to the head of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) from the now-deceased Aleksy II,  former Patriarch of Moscow (i.e. head of the Russian Orthodox Church), has been aboard the ISS since 2006.
