Organ Donation And its Benefits

Posted by admin in Organ Donation

The process in which an individual gives an organ to another, a receiver who may need it is called organ donation. More often than not this is done to ensure that the aforementioned recipient of the said organ is able to survive and live from situations that have results in the failure of that particular organ to function as adequately as it should. While the recently deceased are perhaps the best source for it, obtaining necessary organs can be done from those who are still alive provided that they meet certain conditions and requirements. Despite the disadvantages on the live donor’s side of the process, it yields quite a lot of benefits especially for the receiver.

Saving a life is perhaps the most popular and beneficial effect of participating in organ donation and these selfless acts of heroism can be accomplished by a great many through this kind of donation. As was previously mentioned earlier, there are indeed undesirable consequences that the donor could potentially go through just for purposely and willingly giving up a viable organ for someone who really needs it. A kidney, for example, can be donated for the use of another because they are normally in pairs, and it can make all the difference in the world for one who may be suffering from the failure of that organ to receive it.

This not only affects the person who is in dire need of a successful organ donation and transplant but all those around him or her. As fragile and as short as life may be, it does indeed matter to a lot of people and giving even just one individual a chance to live longer than he or she should have can bring a lot of satisfaction. However, one must also be aware of the disadvantages such as the likelihood that the transplant itself may not be successful because the body is rejecting the organ or if one’s physiology doesn’t match the others.
